David is from a rural community in southwest Kansas. His undergraduate studies were in psychology and chemistry at the University of Kansas.

During medical school, David earned a commission in U.S Air Force serving with the Air National Guard as a medical service corps officer. He served with the 190th Air Refueling Wing at Forbes Field in Topeka, KS. During his time there, David completed training to become a flight surgeon. He now works with the 149th Fighter Wing at Kelly Field as a flight surgeon for F-16 pilots.

During his free time, David enjoys spending time with his wife, Tram and daughter, Lucy. David and his family are passionate Jayhawks fan. His personal hobbies include golfing, snowboarding, fishing, hunting, and flying airplanes.

In the future, David hopes to work in the community as ER doc while serving in the U.S Air Force as a Critical Care Air Transport Team physician.
