Biosketch: Dr. Kaori Tanaka is Board Certified in Emergency Medicine and a faculty member in the Emergency Department. She joined UTHSCSA in 2016. Currently, she is an Assistant Clinical Professor, Director of Special Operations and Assistant Director of the EMS Fellowship.

Dr. Tanaka grew up in Texas, graduating from University of Dallas with a degree in Biochemistry and a concentration in Spanish. She then attended Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine where she obtained a Masters of Science in Public Health in Tropical Medicine with a concentration in Parasitology. She attended medical school at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine – Georgia Campus in Suwanee, Georgia. After medical school, she completed Emergency Medicine Residency at University at Buffalo where she was Chief Resident. She completed a fellowship in Emergency Medical Services at University at Buffalo in 2016.

Dr. Tanaka moved to San Antonio in 2016 and has been full-time faculty since. She is currently involved in the EMS fellowship with an interest in Tactical Medicine and is proud to be a member of the Emergency Medicine family.
