Biosketch: Dr. Grijalva attended medical school at Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington, D.C. She completed her residency at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. Dr. Grijalva was a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine at UCLA in Los Angeles, California, followed by an appointment at the Audie L. Murphy Veterans Memorial Hospital in the Emergency Medicine and Primary Care Department.

Prior to joining UT Health San Antonio Long School of Medicine as faculty in teaching and clinical care in 2009, Dr. Grijalva worked in the Baptist Health System San Antonio hospitals. Since joining the medical school, she has served on the University Hospital Quality and Risk management committee, was the Emergency Medicine medical student Clerkship Director and a Longitudinal Preceptor. She currently is the Chair of the Ethics committee at University Hospital. Dr. Grijalva is the Co-Module Director for the Clinical Skills Module taught in the first and second year of the medical school. She also is a Synthesis Facilitator for the first year medical students.
