Biosketch: Dr. Jose Luis Enriquez is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine, Division of Pediatric Emergency. He joined the University of Texas Health Science Center in 2016 when the Children's Hospital officially opened.

He was granted an academic scholarship from the University of Ciudad Juarez, Mexico where he obtained his medical degree in 1980. In 1986 he completed his Pediatric Residency at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in El Paso, where he was a Chief Resident, followed by a Pediatric Nephrology Fellowship at the University of Texas in Galveston in 1989. He stayed at UTMB as an Assistant Professor in the Division of Pediatric Nephrology and Diabetes after his fellowship.

He did a Pediatric Emergency Fellowship at Le Bonheur Children's Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee in 1993. He was an Instructor in Pediatric Emergency Medicine at Harvard Boston Children's Hospital from 2008 to 2010.

He completed a Pediatric Emergency Ultrasound Fellowship at Maricopa Medical Center in Phoenix, Arizona in 2013.

Despite holding a position of attending in Pediatric Emergency in other hospitals throughout the Country, he has been an attending physician in the Department of Pediatric Emergency at Driscoll Children's Hospital, in Corpus Christi Texas since 1995 until 2016. He was the attending of the year at the same hospital in 1997-1998.

He and his family relocated to San Antonio after he was appointed as a full time attending in the University Children's Hospital Emergency Department.

His career interests are Quality Assurance and Pediatric Emergency Ultrasonography.
